The Story
I started to embrace the use of technology a few years ago when our district went 1:1 with I-Pads in the high school. At first I was reluctant but soon saw the value in what one could do if given the time and resources to bring your ideas to the front of your to-do list. Not sure I was ever given the time but when you're struck with ideas you find the time. Once one idea became a reality I was hooked on trying to find other ways to integrate technology within the classroom. Not only with the special education student I serve but assisting other teachers in their classrooms with their own ideas. It is great to see students excel with something once they are given a choice in how they want to express their ideas. I hope you can find something of value here to help make your ideas a reality as well!
ABOUT ME
My name is Tim and I teach special education at Aurora High School in Aurora, Nebraska. I also have the opportunity to coach varsity football, middle school wrestling and middle school track. I believe that any extra-curricular activity is an extension of the classroom. There are so many things to be taught and learned from being involved outside of the classroom.
My wife, Molly, is a behavior consultant for Grand Island Senior High and we have two boys. Our oldest is an eighth grader and our youngest is in the fifth grade.
I have been in education for 15+ years from large city to small town schools. I was able to come back home and teach and coach in my hometown. Growing up, like most who grow in a smaller town, I couldn't wait to get out and move on to a big city. After a few years away I couldn't wait to get back!
